Funding of the education sector by the government on priority and with more grants compared to sports and recreation is the need of the hour. I am of the opinion that the government should boost the education system and concentrate all possible efforts and funding to improve the schools and the colleges in the semi urban and rural areas for the reason that education is an important pillar for a nation’s growth. Though sports and other recreational activities are important for happy and healthy living, they can be infused with funds accordingly.

The education system in developing countries is very poor and it needs an overhaul. The increasing number of school dropouts at a young age is an alarming sign of the future problems like poverty, unemployment and crimes. For instance, an uneducated youth is very likely to take up robbery and drug trafficking as his profession for a livelihood which is not a socially accepted disposition. Private organizations, philanthropists, social workers and elite corporate houses are ever willing to help the government in strengthening the education system and the state should pay heed and work cooperatively on a public private partnership.

On the other hand, although sports and recreation activities are important for mental and physical development of the citizens of a nation, their role however, in the overall growth and progress of the country comes after a solid and stable education system. Sport teaches team spirit and a sense of competition, and is necessary for a happy and healthy life but only after gaining a proper and well-rounded education. Furthermore, food and housing sectors are the other sectors which the government should consider next, before funding sports and recreation. It’s important to have all factors taken care of only in the order of their importance and not otherwise.

To conclude, I personally believe that the government should give priority-based funding to the important sectors such as the education sector and it should get maximum grants followed by food, health and then housing. Nd after these have been taken care of should the government look at secondary essentials like sports and recreational activities.
