Voluntary
work should be an essential part of the senior secondary curriculum. I
completely agree with the above-mentioned statement on charity work at pre
college years. This essay will further discuss humanity as my
first point and social responsibility
as my second point for virtues that students will learn about from community
service.
Education
is not entirely about academic pursuits but the development of life skills and
worldly wisdom; with humanity being the most important one among them. This should
by all means be made available to students in their mid and late teens. Creating
time for community welfare will help pupils learn and imbibe one of the greatest
human virtues – humanity; and this will enable them to grow up into dutiful,
responsible and mindful civil citizens. For instance, I personally help my neighbors
who are above eighty years old when they fall ill and this gives me a sense of community
and I feel extremely content and grateful that I am in a position to help
somebody.
Social
responsibility is a life skill that teaches individuals a sense of community
and belonging. It furthermore shows us how to serve not only fellow humans
but also nature concurrently. It helps in the creation of human capital and
paves the way for a sustainable future. Thus, a socially responsible person
tends to contribute to society, and does this with the help of others in a harmonious
way.
For
example, I personally take part in community plantation drives and encourage
others to plant trees, for we equally are accountable to nature too.
To
summarize, secondary education should ensure that students allocate adequate
time to community service, because this will not only develop a sense of
contentment and well-being for the pupils, but also enable them to excel in
their careers.
