Students are becoming more and more reliant on computers. What are some of the problems associated with reliance on computers, and what are some of the possible solutions?

The use of technology has increased manifold over the years. Students, who are the primary users of technology have everything at the click of a button. This essay will be discussing one of the problems and a probable solution which are connected to the dependence on computers.

Time spent on social media these days is the key problem, students spend an enormous amount of time on public platforms and communities using either their laptops or mobile phones. Pupils are often seen at various times of the day irrespective of their commitments glued to their visual devices, and in complete oblivion of their total lack for things happening around them. This has resulted in the poor development of a pupils mental and physical abilities. For example, the Institute for Genetic Mapping has called out to parents and the society at large that if these lifestyle-indulgences increase and carry on, it wouldn’t be long before certain lifestyle diseases become genetic rather than acquired.

The resolution to this perturbing problem is to ask students to keep their mobile gadgets in lockers or to disable them during class hours. Teachers should articulate and establish their expectations clearly and could also use it as a rewarding tool to provide for bonus credits to those students who follow such practices throughout the semester .This practice will help student drive their focus towards the class and attain better grades and health .For example college can provide student lockers to keep their essentials and set a cell phone using time slot during school hours. Schools can also have a technology class which will encourages students to learn about the positive side of using technology diligently.

Recapitulating the composition, the main problem is the volume of time spent on social media via technology. To mitigate such problems parents and schools should work collaboratively and provide a stern schedule in addition to encouraging them to adhere to the same religiously. It is predicted that students will split their time efficiently which will enhance their multi-directional growth mind-set. It will also provide them aptitude to use technology efficiently.
