Technology is immeasurably and intricately intertwined in modern
day pedagogy. A section of the populace believe that it brings forth positivity
while the other hand; the contrarians argue that it is driving education
towards undesirable outcomes. This essay agrees that computers is immensely
beneficial for students. And, it will elaborate both points of view.
Technology in education has radically changed the means of
teaching and has influenced students and teachers in many positive ways. By
using this tool, they gain access to various sources of information and
learning processes at the click of a button. It is therefore agreed that the
application of computer sciences is highly beneficial in schooling. For
instance, children can enjoy the convenience and effortless virtual journeys
and experiences like; online classes, virtual field trips, digital lesson
plans, quizzes and online test activities among other things.
On the other hand, research has proven that technology has
deteriorated student competencies in reading and writing. The social interaction
between students and teachers have reduced, creating a void and leaving
students isolated and in want of human support. human interaction has indeed
increased through the virtual world and hence this essay differs on the point
of view that technology should be abandoned because of this reason. For
example, Zoom calls and WhatsApp has connected communities in a large way, as
it has impacted relationships of individuals in a positive manner. Social media
has increased the interpersonal communication between colleagues and enhanced
teamwork which otherwise would not have been possible under normal
circumstances.
Over all, modern technology is convenient but a vast majority of
individuals still feel that time spent on gadgets has reduced socialization among
students with their peers. Pupils should control the usage and never forget the
essence of personal interaction. As long as they are aware that they are not
addicted, it is not detrimental to their relationship with their peers and
teachers.
