About Us

The Daily IELTS Essays is an initiative to help those who send us their essays to be reviewed to get a feel of their essays vis-à-vis the essays of their co-candidates appearing for or taking the IELTS tests to either study further or to emigrate. We try and make an effort to post a few if not at least one selected essay everyday so that students can follow the essays and absorb much for their own practice.

Knowing how to structure your IELTS Writing Task 2 (essay) is an essential skill that can make the difference between getting and not getting the band score you deserve. With that in mind, we have categorically outlined the most common IELTS Writing Task 2 structures below.

Nearly all of Band 7 Task 2 essays follow this basic structure: (you should have a total of 4 paragraphs)

1) Introduction

2) Body Paragraph 1

3) Body Paragraph 2

4) Conclusion

The sentences you put in each paragraph will depend on what type of question topic you get.

The five most common IELTS Writing Task 2 questions or topic categories are:

1. Opinion (Agree or Disagree)

2. Advantages and Disadvantages

3. Problem and Solution

4. Discussion (Discuss both view)

5. Two-part Question

On a separate page (post), we have outlined examples and a structure approved by experienced IELTS teachers and examiners for each type of question. This will help you write a clear and coherent answer, and hopefully boost your IELTS band score. We’ve also included an example answer for each type of question so you can see what the structure looks like in a real essay.

Please note that these are general structures and they may vary depending on the particular question.

**Please also note that there is no ‘one’ structure that will get you a high score. There are many types of structures that can get you a high score. These are just the ones I think are most effective and easiest to learn.

The IELTS Coach behind the initiative

The Daily IELTS Essays is an initiative by David Conrad Linus aka John Smith aka Bihari Angrez. David is a proficient and result producing Spoken English Teacher/Instructor and IELTS Writing Trainer & Coach. He teaches English as a foreign and second language and he loves to share his knowledge and experience on the subject and opportunities with students and colleagues. He has been teaching English for 10 years now and he’s devised a workable method by which first time English learners and acquaintances learn and speak the language in 90 hours. The project has been a success and has laid the ground for him to work further, on reducing the number of hours from 90 to 75 for new learners of any age and level.

He also coaches people wanting to make the cut on their IELTS band scores. 90% of the people he has coached has made the cut with an 8777 requirement on their first attempt and the rest in their second and third attempt. His approaches and methods are intensive, and process focused and this gives the test takers a clear and accurate chance of making the cut.

David is also a very accomplished Public Speaker and Debater and is an active member with the Toastmasters International at the Gurgaon Speakers Toastmasters Club and with the Debating Union of Delhi respectively. He has been awarded numerous ‘Best Speaker’ awards at various levels of contests held by these organizations.

Furthermore, David takes these skills of his to the corporate world too and is a sought-after Corporate Trainer and facilitator of the English language. He conducts various corporate programs that are either of the rack or bespoke. The results and changes in the trainees are proof of his approach and methods and is becoming quite a name in the Learning and Development circles around India.

How did David master the English language and perfect the art of Public Speaking?

David was born in Bihar and spent his entire childhood and formative years in a small village of a small town in the district of Supaul. A border district with Nepal to the north. The Kosi river is about 25 Kms from his house and the entire region known as the Kosi belt is a spectacle of beauty. Rivulets and canals crisscross the land and form a beautiful water web melding together with the natural beauty and the highways and expressways.

He moved to Delhi after his graduation and worked with top of the class organizations for 12 years and then moved full time into teaching English and simultaneously developing methods, approaches and rules of thumb for mastering and becoming proficient in the language.

His methods and approaches are very simple; it is so simple that the cynical sometimes think it is too easy to be true. But the fact is; it is. David has worked tirelessly to make the language easy and comprehensible to a completely new learner and they begin speaking with accuracy and fluency within 6 weeks.

David has a phenomenally near native RP (BBC) accent and it is extremely difficult to differentiate between the original accent and the accent he speaks in. meticulous and disciplined drills over a period of time and an in-depth understanding of sounds, syllables and pronunciation has borne the fruits of his labor. Furthermore, his command over the language is exemplary and his easy approach to mastering the written and spoken production of the language is fascinating.

David’s mountainous growth over the command and proficiency of the language is nothing short of magic; considering that he’s a native of a very tiny hamlet tucked into oblivion in the Kosi region and more so being a boy from Bihar seems unlikely possible. The fact is anybody can speak English just like a native English speaker if they follow David’s approaches, methods and rules of thumb.

Yes you can … It is not difficult. You will speak English fluently and comfortably and without any hesitation anywhere; anytime and in front of anybody.

Remember speaking English like Shashi Tharoor or a Native Speaker is absolutely possible. I do it and I completely believe you can do it too. Yes, you can.
