Many citizens propose that the state should
provide monetary allowances to all social and cultural performers while on the
other hand we have many who oppose this step labeling it as a waste of government
funds. Paying incentives to the artists will surely help the talented get
recognition and appreciation. But, do we have enough funds to do this? This
essay will discuss the pros and cons of the financial support to artists. I
personally believe there are many more serious national concerns which need to
be addressed and funded before sanctioning monthly incentives to these people.
Policymakers, who support the idea of monthly
incentives to artists believe that the endowed individual must be supported
financially so that he can meet his daily minimal needs and is able to live comfortably.
By doing so, the performer can pursue his passion with complete dedication, polish
his skills and enable himself to flourish and get fame on national and
international platforms. For instance, if a fine art painter is plagued by the
burden of fending for his family needs from morning till evening, how would he ever
be able to dedicate time to show his talent to the world?
Contrary to this, opponents of financial
support to artists deliberate there are various other major social issues which
must to be addressed and funded before taking a step like this. To name a few; poverty,
illiteracy and health. Expenditure on allowances to artists will be a waste of
money and imprudent to be considering it as a priority ignoring these above-mentioned
issues. For example, food and education the most fundamental of needs must first
be provided to every citizen of the nation before enacting such policies that
look in to secondary lifestyle desires.
To conclude, although financially supporting
artists with monthly allowances is reasonably a good idea, we however must not
overlook other essentials society needs and must appropriately utilize public
money before funding other undertakings.
